oOh!media New Zealand has secured the renewal of the Christchurch City Council Metro Services Bus Shelter advertising contract, with the renewed agreement effective from today – 1 April.
The contract renewal reinforces oOh!’s established street furniture presence in Christchurch and marks a significant step forward in the digitisation of the city’s street network, increasing coverage and enabling advertisers to achieve greater reach and flexibility across the Christchurch market.
Under the renewed agreement, the Christchurch network will continue to evolve through increased digitsation, expanding the number of digital panels across the city to more than 100 panels and materially increasing oOh!’s digital coverage across the total street furniture network. This expansion further strengthens oOh!’s ability to deliver high-impact campaigns at scale, while unlocking greater programmatic enablement and smarter, more responsive trading opportunities for advertisers and agencies.
Christchurch is an integral part of oOh!’s national street furniture footprint, operating alongside a premium retail portfolio across New Zealand. Together, these complementary environments enable advertisers to deliver consistent, high‑impact campaigns across daily commuter journeys and high‑dwell retail destinations -now with enhanced digital scale and reach within Christchurch.

For advertisers, the expanded digital network delivers greater reach and efficiency across Christchurch, enabling campaigns to connect with more people, more often, across key commuter and suburban locations. According to knOOH, oOh!’s Christchurch Street network reaches more than 518,000 people fortnightly – representing 86% of Cantabrians – giving advertisers exceptional market coverage with every campaign. By increasing the scale of digital inventory, advertisers can more effectively maximise audience reach with every buy, supported by expanded programmatic capability that enables greater flexibility, smarter targeting and more dynamic execution across a trusted street furniture environment.
Kelly Harvey, Head of oOh!media New Zealand, said the renewal reflects both the strength of the existing network and oOh!’s proven ability to operate and commercialise large-scale street furniture assets.
“This contract renewal recognises the strong performance of an established network that is already delivering for advertisers and the city,” she said.
The increased digitisation of the Christchurch network will significantly enhance coverage and reach, strengthening the city’s role within our broader national street and retail offering and enabling more dynamic, data-led and programmatic campaigns.”
The Christchurch network comprises more than 400 advertising panels across the city, delivering established coverage across key commuter routes and high‑traffic suburban areas. Under the renewed agreement, oOh! will continue to deliver targeted maintenance and upgrade works in line with Council requirements. This includes, for the first time in New Zealand for bus shelters and small format assets, the introduction of energy‑efficient LED technology, supporting higher asset quality, longevity and sustainability outcomes.
For agencies, the contract renewal ensures Christchurch remains seamlessly integrated into a nationally consistent street and retail offering, simplifying planning and execution across multiple markets while materially increasing the digital proportion of the network and overall market coverage.
